What to Expect

The India NVC Family Camp is organised around a community-centered approach to play, learning and connection, within a safe container that allows us to play, learn, flow, and grow together.

This means that alongside anchor sessions and shared community experiences which create a frame for our time together, the camp itself is co-created by the people who gather there.

Think of the Family Camp as a Living Ecosystem, with spaces for learning, play, reflection, storytelling, music, movement, rest, creativity, and connection.

Camp spaces include gathering/community spaces (“Aangan”), games, celebration, and playfulness (“Mela”), music, poetry, art, and storytelling (“Mehfil”), informal hangout/discussion spaces (“Adda”), and other spaces for dialogue, adventure and discovery, and quietness, rest and regulation.

Here, learning also happens during meals, while we play together, in spontaneous conversations, while cleaning up, watching sunshine filtering through trees, honouring transitions and simply being together in everyday life in community.

What you can expect is a blend of facilitated learning spaces, community-created offerings, playful explorations, and shared gathering spaces that support connection across ages and experiences.

Some of the learning sessions will be guided by Manasi, Mika, and the Program Team, offering grounding in the core values and practices of the camp. These may include:

  • NVC Sessions for self-empathy, empathy and honest self-expression
  • Cultivating emotional literacy and understanding our emotions and needs
  • Spaces for empathy and listening, for navigating conflict and repair
  • Exploring dialogue and agreement-making
  • Connection and collaboration circles
  • Cooperative games, embodied, movement-based learning, relational activities
  • Community spaces and gatherings

Alongside these, campers of all ages will also be able to offer sessions, games, conversations, creative activities, movement spaces, nature explorations, rituals, skill-shares, or even moments of connection or storytelling that feel meaningful and alive to them.

Offerings do not need to be formal workshops. They can also be games, songs, crafts, storytelling, questions, nature walks, movement, or simple spaces for connection.

Campers are also welcome to pause, rest, observe, or simply be, without pressure to constantly participate.

We intend that most spaces in the camp will remain intergenerational and open, allowing children, teens, and adults to participate and explore side by side. Yet, if needed, we will create age- and activity-centric spaces for being heard, expresson, and exploration.

Because the Family Camp is community-centered and relational, some aspects of the experience may evolve organically in response to the needs and energy of the group. That means the camp is shaped not only by the team, but also by you — and the people who gather there.
